Jeff Sherman
Jeff Sherman is a North Canterbury based artist who predominantly paints larger sized acrylic on canvas landscapes depicting mainly West Coast, North Canterbury and Central Otago scenes.
As a born and bred Hokitika coaster, Jeff fully appreciates the natural beauty and uniqueness of the area, it’s people, history and the legacies left behind by past generations. Many of his paintings feature old rustic rural barns and buildings that have survived the elements and time and are unfortunately, slowly disappearing from our lives.
Utilizing a lifetimes photographic collection, Jeff’s Art has been influenced by several notable kiwi artists, including Colin Wheeler, Peter McIntyre and Austin Dean’s, who appeal because of their subject choice, color and perspectives. He is a firm believer that a good painting needs an X factor and should ‘pop’ out of the canvas. Now retired, Jeff believes his art is continually evolving as he is able to devote more quality time to this lifetime passion and journey.
